The EP Management Team

Maria Larson, CEO

Maria Larson brings close to 20 years of experience in Pharmaceutical Recruiting to her clients and staff. She founded ExecuPharm, Inc. (EP) in 1993, bringing together some of the most talented people in the industry. Her keen understanding of client and employee needs has helped make EP the “go to” company for study management, site management and monitoring. Maria has established herself as an innovative thinker and leader in outsourcing and staffing for clinical research, data management, biostatistics, medical writing, drug safety, and regulatory affairs. With Maria’s guidance, EP has built strong, long-term relationships with both large and small pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Maria received her BS degree from Temple University.

 

Stephen Porrecca, MBA, CFP®, Chief Operating Officer

Stephen Porrecca joined EP in January 2008 as Chief Operating Officer. He is responsible for Human Resources and Benefits, Corporate Finance, Accounting, Facilities, Risk Management, and Business Continuity Planning. He has a strong background in managing people, process improvement, and cost containment. Prior to joining EP, Stephen spent 16 years at The Vanguard Group holding senior management and operations leadership positions in Brokerage and Mutual Fund Operations, Trading, Client Services, Corporate Compliance, Institutional Recordkeeping, and Financial Advisor Services. Stephen is a Six Sigma Black Belt and a Certified Financial Planner. He earned a BA in Economics from Swarthmore College and an MBA in Finance from Saint Joseph’s University.

 

Scott E. Larson Sr., Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

Scott Larson joined EP in 1998 as Vice President and helped transform the company’s financial operations from a start-up to a multi-million dollar organization. He oversees multiple corporate functions and spearheads the continuous improvement practices of the company. Scott’s focus is on the strategic direction and growth of EP while maintaining the financial stability of the organization. He is responsible for investigating potential global alliances and expansion scenarios within the pharmaceutical/biotech vertical market.

 

Lauri Sirabella, MEd, MS Vice President, Clinical Strategic Business Development

Lauri Sirabella has nearly 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical research. She began her career with Bayer in 1983 and held positions of increasing responsibility in Study Management and Monitoring, including her final position there as Head of Clinical Operations. Lauri joined Pfizer in 1998 to build and implement Pfizer’s first Regional Monitoring Team. She later was head of the department responsible for operational aspects of study and data management for clinical trials. Her group was responsible for operating more than 50% of Pfizer’s global studies. During her career, Lauri has used her extensive experience and expertise to standardize all phases of the clinical-trial process, including the development of metrics on performance and productivity. She continues to be an industry expert on Virtual Study Management and on other insourcing and outsourcing models. Lauri earned her MEd from the University of Maine and MS from Southern Connecticut State University.

 

Penny Johnson, Vice President, Account Management

Penny Johnson has more than 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. She began her career in Clinical Data Management at Amaric Corporation, a US branch of Servier Laboratories.  In 1987, at Boehringer Mannheim Pharmaceuticals, she continued in Data Management until joining Pfizer R&D in 1993.  During the next ten years, Penny transitioned from Clinical Data Management to Human Resources. In HR, she provided HR services to her Clinical Research colleagues and expanded on the University Recruiting services for the Drug Discovery groups.  She also served as the Operations Manager for the Regional CRA Program and was responsible for resource management, budgets, outsourcing, and developing tools and processes for the program. Penny has been in the service sector since 2002, focusing on providing clinical consulting and outsourcing/resourcing solutions and services to many pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and device clients. Penny earned her bachelor's degree in Technology and Management at the University of Maryland.

 

Lisa C. Feeney, MBA, Senior Director, Clinical Operations

Lisa Feeney has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 20 years. She began at Pfizer in Regulatory Affairs filing NDAs for many of Pfizer's successful compounds. Lisa also worked as a Monitor and a Study Manager prior to becoming a line manager for Study and Data Managers.  Lisa was instrumental in hiring regional monitors and line managers for Pfizer’s Regional Monitoring Program as well as implementing the program.  Lisa has worked in numerous therapeutic areas including oncology, neuroscience, psychiatry, cardiovascular/metabolic disease, women's health, anti-inflammatory and dermatology. She spent her last years at Pfizer as a Director in Clinical Study Management for the Oncology group.  Since 2007, Lisa has worked for ExecuPharm during which time she has managed clinical operations for multiple functional service provider relationships with several pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Lisa earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Eastern Connecticut State University and an MBA at the University of New Haven.
